Transpacific freight forwarding · US ⇄ Asia

Your team, minus the busywork.

Captain does the typing, tracking, and chasing your team hates. Orders entered. Containers tracked. Quotes out in minutes, not days. You approve; Captain does the rest.

You approve every step. Nothing moves without you.

Built for how transpacific forwarders really work

  • US ⇄ Asia corridor
  • We speak your partners’ language
  • You approve every step
  • Every action logged

The problem

Busywork eats your team’s day. But it never wins you clients.

Typing orders in by hand. Clients calling to ask “where’s my container?” Quotes that take a day. And the worst part: when a senior ops person leaves, what they know leaves with them.

  • Hours lost to copy-paste

Order details get typed again and again, into email, spreadsheets, and your TMS. It’s slow, and it causes mistakes.

  • “Where’s my shipment?”

Chasing status updates fills your team’s day. Clients still feel left in the dark.

  • Know-how that walks out the door

Your process lives in a few people’s heads. When they leave, you start over.

What Captain does

Three jobs, done, and a person checks every one.

Order processing

Captain reads new orders, sorts the data, and fills in your systems. Your ops lead approves with one click.

You check it before it goes in.

Vessel tracking & client updates

Captain tracks ships and milestones live. It writes a status update for each client, in English or 中文.

Send as-is, or edit it first.

Tariff-aware quoting

Quotes that include today’s tariffs and lanes. Done in seconds, not hours.

It helps your team decide. It’s not customs advice.

Every forwarder runs different tools. Most start with these three jobs. We build to fit yours.

How it works

Connect it once. You stay in control.

  1. 01

    Connect

Captain plugs into the email, files, and systems your team already uses.

  2. 02

    Captain drafts

It reads the work and writes the first draft: order, update, or quote.

  3. 03

    You approve

Your team checks it and clicks approve. Every action is logged.

  4. 04

    It executes

Captain files the entry, sends the update, or returns the quote.

Why it matters

Do more with the team you have. Keep your know-how for good.

It isn’t the minutes. It’s the interruptions. Every “quick” order entry or status check pulls a senior person off real work, and getting back takes longer than the task itself. Captain absorbs the throwaway jobs, so your best people stay on the work that actually needs them.

More work done, same team

When the busywork is automated, the same people handle more volume.

Lower cost per shipment

Fewer manual hours. Fewer typing mistakes. On every order.

Know-how that stays

Captain captures how your company works. It stays with you, not in one person’s head.

Security & data handling

Your client data stays yours.

Buyers ask one thing first: where does my data go? Here’s the short answer.

  • Encrypted in transit & at rest

Strong, standard encryption on every connection and every stored record.

  • We don’t train on your data

Your shipments, clients, and rates never train shared models.

  • Access controls & audit trail

Role-based access. A full log of every action Captain takes.

  • A person approves the sensitive steps

Nothing goes out to your clients without your team’s sign-off.

Who’s behind Captain

I’ve worked both ends of the lane, in both languages.

I built Captain for transpacific forwarders, because I’ve lived on both ends of this lane. I speak your clients’ language, literally.

Nate Conrad, founder of Captain

Nate Conrad 郭天寧 · Founder

I’ve spent my adult life between the US, mainland China, and Taiwan. I started learning Chinese in middle school. I spent six years in US-China-Taiwan track-two diplomacy, long, deep talks with leaders on every side about keeping the peace. I came away sure of one thing: talk only goes so far. Lasting peace is built on trade that makes both sides better off. So I turned my engineering skills to the trade lane itself. A Brown University graduate, I live in Taipei and work the lane, building Captain inside two partner forwarders that span the Pearl River Delta and the US. I learned the stakes the hard way: my last company imported solar panels and batteries across this lane, and swinging tariffs and uncertainty nearly sank it. So I build for the part you can control: your own operation, running clean whatever the weather.

Our mark is the North Star, 北辰, the fixed point the other stars turn around. That’s our aim: to be the steady, trusted node that keeps the transpacific corridor working, whatever the weather, whoever is steering.

The offer

  • In 30 days, Captain is doing your order entry on your real orders, or you don’t pay. We invoice nothing until it’s live.
  • Partner teams already get about 4 hours back every week, on track for 10+ within six months. Roughly a quarter of an ops hire you don’t have to make.
  • We take on one forwarder a quarter, so each build is done right. Applications for the next slot are open.
